(ATLANTA, TEXAS) -- The second book in a planned trilogy by Atlanta, Texas author Sonny Long has been released by independent publisher Pine Country Media.
The series, A Long Look At Life, encompasses the author's life-long career as a versatile writer. Volume 1: Prose & Poetry was published in May of 1999. It features poetry, short stories and personal essays written over more than a 25-year period from the author's teens until his 40s. The new release, Volume 2: The Collected Columns, features the best of Long's newspaper columns from 1980-1999. The 140-page collection covers a wide range of topics including aging, baseball, food, local government, race relations, the media, and more, including the unsolved triple homicide that occurred in Atlanta in 1992. In 1990, Long won an East Texas Press Association Award for column writing.
A portion of the proceeds from the A Long Look series are being donated to the Cass County (TX) Chapter of the American Cancer Society in memory of the author's sister who died of breast cancer at age 41.
The third volume in the trilogy will be a collection of photographs and feature stories from Long's two-decade career as a journalist. This past fall Long took part in the Maui Writers Conference where he attended seminars and met with agents and editors about future writing projects.
